GET YOUR FRINGE on
There's a lot to see, do and explore at the Calgary Fringe. Here are our top five tips to help you make the most of your experience:
1. GRAB A FRINGE GUIDE
This is your all-inclusive, all-encompassing guide to every single event taking place at the Calgary Fringe. It covers show times, ticket prices, a venue map, performance descriptions and much more. Calgary Fringe guides are available from the main information booth, venue box offices and select Inglewood merchants.
2. BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE
Don’t like lining up? You don’t have to. Tickets to all Calgary Fringe shows are available ahead of time from our online store. You can buy as many tickets as you like, for as many shows as you want. Looking at get five tickets or more? Get a SuperPass and save up to 30%!
3. SEE SHOWS EARLY
Don’t wait until the last minute to see that one production you’ve been dying to see that the whole city is raving about. Tickets become harder to snag as word of mouth spreads and less shows remain. Buck the trend and be there for opening night or mid-week!
4. MAKE TIME TO EXPLORE
The Calgary Fringe is bursting with activity. It's a nine-day blitz of arts and culture, and there's truly something for everyone. When you come down to Inglewood, give yourself at least a few hours to explore and discover everything the Calgary Fringe has to offer.
Our partner festival, Inglewood SunFest, takes place on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Sunfest is the ultimate outdoor event to wander around between shows. It features creative street performers, buskers, vendors and a pop-up artisan market, plus lots of food trucks, a pie-eating contest and great activities for the kids.
Other than that, we encourage you to check out a wide variety of theatre shows from this year's lineup, stop by cool Inglewood shops and parks, and of course be open to making new friends with fellow Fringe enthusiasts — just look for that Fringe button!
5. IT'S NOT ALL IN THE REVIEW
Critic reviews are only one way to find out about hot shows at the Calgary Fringe. Keep your ears tuned to word of mouth recommendations on the street from fellow patrons, and don't be afraid to go and see the show that everyone’s talking about even if it hasn't been covered by the Calgary Herald or Avenue Magazine yet.
But most of all, listen to your gut and trust your instincts. Have fun! Go and see the shows that you want to see, that speak to you and spark your interest! That's what it's all about. You can read through show descriptions online or grab a paper copy of the Fringe guide.
